Because I Said So

"Because I said so!" UGH!! How many of you have heard those words before. As a child I vowed that I wouldn't say those words to my children. What was the big deal??? All I wanted to know was why! RIGHT??

Well, I must admit. I've said it. Those fated words that no child wants to hear...."Because I said so." As my daughter asked why she couldn't stay at the party later like all the other children.. the first answer was simply "No". Be grateful you got to go. Then of course she asked "Why?" You know the answer....

As a parent it is my prerogative not to explain. My parent given right. I simply don't have to. I know the answer and the reasoning so I don't have to explain. On the other hand, I may choose not to explain because I KNOW they will not understand the answer. They have not gone through the life experiences to be able to fully grasp the situation and explanation. No matter how I explain it, they are not going to understand the answer so why explain, thus, "Because I said so!"

Our heavenly Father does us the same way at times. We are in the midst of a trial and a storm and we ask "Deliver me now Lord!" And we hear NO! Some of us may ask "Why?" "Because I said so!" is the answer. We, like our children may not have had the life experiences or the maturity to understand the answer. HE sees the end result and knows that if the answer is "Yes" right now the consequences will be detrimental. We may be veering off of the course that HE has for us. HIS "NO" may be protecting us from dangers that we can not see. On the other hand, what HE has waiting for us, stored up for us, may be better than what we can see right now.

I told my daughterthat in time she will be able to stay longer. As she matures and has more life experiences she will understand. Just as I know best, My FATHER knows best! He knows why HE said "No"! We have to pray hard, accept the answer and stop questioning HIM. Remember, NO doesn't always mean NEVER! It sometimes means, "NOT NOW!" We just have to wait!

Psalm 62:1 Truly my soul silently waits for God; from Him comes my salvation.
