"Why? I Sometimes Ask Myself!"

Many years ago, my sister wrote a poem when my great grandmother passed. The name of the poem was “Why?” In it she said, “Why? I sometimes ask myself.” We probably have all asked that question. Why? Why me? Why? We are forever seeking answers. We are inquisitive creatures.

We especially want to know why when things don’t go as WE plan! That’s just it. It’s not OUR plan. It’s His plan. He is sovereign. He knew us before He created us. He knows the plan for our lives. The direction that He wants us to travel may not be the journey that we have planned. Sometimes, we have to travel down into the valley on that long arduous road which seems to lead to nowhere. That’s when we really ask WHY?? Surprisingly, the answer may not come when we want it.

Sometimes, we have to wait. WAIT!! “How long?” As long as it takes to make sure we are ready to continue the journey. As long as it takes to make sure we are strong enough to climb. As long as it takes to make sure our hearts and eyes are receptive to what He has for us.

But oh what joy when we get to the mountain! When we see the miracle! When we are on top of the mountain, looking down at the valley and proclaiming….. YES! I understand now!!

So, next time you are asking “Why?” Pray on it and say "Thy will be done". The answer will be revealed, by and by….after the “Why?” Always Push Forward!

O Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your words are trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant. 2 Samuel 28:7

Obsessed

I have been thinking about this new movie "Obsessed". I haven't been obsessing over it, just thinking about it.

Without spoiling it for any of you who haven't seen it, I simply ponder as to what would drive an individual to fixate in their minds, complete delusion. I am not a therapist, nor have any training in this area. This is my own pondering.

We undoubtedly can't control the delusion person. We can steer clear of them, but it is not up to us to change them. So, let us examine ourselves anew.

Flirting! What exactly is it? I'm glad you asked. Flirting is playful behavior intended to arouse sexual interest!! WOW!! I didn't know that. I just looked it up. LOL...But in retrospect, I guess it is. Is it always innocent? Do we always think of the consequences? It seems that sometimes people are flirtatious by nature. A learned behavior that they never stopped- EVEN after they become committed.

According to an article on Crosswalk, in New York a fine of $25 can be levied for flirting. This old law specifically prohibits men from turning around on any city street and looking "at a woman in that way." A second conviction for a crime of this magnitude calls for the violating male to be forced to wear a "pair of horse-blinders" wherever and whenever he goes outside for a stroll.

So, my question is, "Is it okay to flirt, if you are in a committed relationship? I'm not judging, just asking? Giving you a little something to chew on as they say. Hmmmmmmm

In Isaiah 3:16 -17 & 24 NIV ...The LORD says, "The women of Zion are haughty, walking along with outstretched necks, flirting with their eyes, tripping along with mincing steps, with ornaments jingling on their ankles. Therefore the Lord will bring sores on the heads of the women of Zion; the LORD will make their scalps bald." ..."Instead of fragrance there will be a stench; instead of a sash, a rope; instead of well-dressed hair, baldness; instead of fine clothing, sackcloth; instead of beauty, branding!"

Oh My!!! As we PUSH FORWARD, let us think about the things that we do, whether intentional or not. PUSH FORWARD, boldy, stepping with all the good that is in us!

By the Way: For you fabulous, beautiful bald women that choose to wear your skin with honor.. you Go GIRLS!! For you women that may be bald underneath those wigs and scarves, YOU WEAR IT WELL!! And for you BALD MEN, well....enough said. I'm not going to flirt!

Pushing versus Resistance

On Twitter, I made the statement that when pushing there is resistance. What exactly does that mean? Let's first define the two.

To push means to apply pressure against an object for the purpose of moving it; to force one's way; to urge forward or urge insistently; to advance despite difficulty or opposition; to press forward;to expend great or vigorous effort.

What is resistance? The dictionary says that it is protest, objection, defiance, confrontation and opposition.

Ah hah!!

Of course as soon as you decide to vigorously force your way forward toward achieving a goal, despite the difficulty, opposition shows up in the form of resistance. Why you may ask?

It is because you made a conscious decision to continue against all odds. You are taking control over your situation and speaking life!

It is the enemy's job to distract us. Distract us from our purpose. Distract us from our God given duties. Distract us from our God given gifts. He is busy. As a lion, he seeks to steal, kill and destroy. He is our opposition.

The next time you feel the resistance as you strive to push forward, simply resist the devil and he will flee. Speak Life!

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

Water Water Everywhere and...

No, I'm not going to say "and not a drop to drink." This quote is from the Ancient Mariner by the English Romantic poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

Water is the key to weight loss. We all know that. We've been told that a gazillion times. Why is water so important? Experts say "The body is made up of 70% water and needs to maintain this 'human water table' (HWT) to remain in a healthy stable condition. During weight loss, the body has a lot of waste to get rid of thus we need to drink water. Our brain consists of 75% water, our blood is 80% water and the liver, our main filter, is 96% water. So physiologically, water is everywhere!

So... I am drinking my water now. I have my 2.2 L jug sitting beside me while I type. I must push forward, continue to drink the water and before long it will become second nature. I will thirst for it as I thirst for the everlasting water offered by our Lord and Savior!! Yum, Yum... come on and join me... have some!

Jesus said.."whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. " Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." John 4:13 NIV

I am changing blogging sites. This blog was written on Feb 12th. I needed to be reminded today of just how good it is to be breathing. One of my girlfriends lost her mother and her grandmother in a two day period. Oh how we take things for granted.

Feb 12: Today is a good day. I am breathing! I am breathing God's air! God breathed the breath of life into man. His air...Theopneustos..."GOD-BREATHED"

The people that I love and care about are breathing.Breathing is something that some of us take for granted. It is a simple process that we do continually yet we don't consciously think about it unless it changes. Unless we become dependent on oxygen... unless we have asthma...unless we have a cold and our lungs are congested, or we are coughing and can't BREATHE! A few weeks ago, I had go sing the national anthem for a big event in our city. I remember, thinking ahead..."are there steps?"..... "will I have to rush".... " BREATHE! When I have to fly, I have to make certain that I am not late, so I don't have to run through the airport... cuz LORD HAVE MERCY......GULPS OF AIR...BREATHE!!

Yesterday, my husband had a car accident. I received a call from someone at the scene. They told me that I should come now because the EMS were on the way. As I gathered my keys, I gathered my thoughts. I went into FOCUS mode. I began to pray and consciously breathe; IN and OUT! I remember telling myself, calm down, focus and BREATHE! When I arrived at the scene, there were four ambulances there. As my knees began to buckle, I said, "BREATHE". I came around the corner to find him being put on a back board. Praise God, there were no broken bones, no lacerations, the girls were not in the car, and most importantly, he was breathing!!

YES... today is a good day!I am BREATHING! Breathing easier as I share... Just Breathe!

...the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Genesis 2:7
